Magetech Episode 2: The Accidental Terrorist

The world is deteriorating, and it’s magic’s fault.

Years ago, the people of the Magetech world discovered a way to harness magic and use it for their own advancement. To do so, they imprisoned ancient gods deep within the earth and siphoned off the magical energies released by these deities.

Now, of course, only the wealthy can use the magic. The powerful Rath family, who rule over Pieoria from the well-to-do Upper Crust neighborhood, only allow their scion Sergrang Rath to trickle tiny bits of nearly useless and unpredictable magic into the slums of the city. Because of this, the Rath family is known for their tyranny.

Magetech is a vigilante group of soldiers, misfits, magic-users, mercenaries, and tech-heads — all who have noticed the planet crumbling around them. Some of them just want to line their pockets. Others are out for revenge. Still others have nowhere else to go.

Bryn. Gale. Crea. Spade. Ethendril. Xander. Yuri. These are the members of the Magetech troupe sent into the thick of things whenever something’s afoot.

And something’s afoot.

Actually, something’s aflame.

When Ightus Tate steals dangerous black market magic to assassinate Sergrang Rath down at the Pie Market one day, he doesn’t count on it very literally blowing up in his face. It takes out the bar. It takes out Madame So-Unso’s Unfortunate Hat Shop next door. And it takes out Bob, the leader of the gang that controls the Pie Market’s affairs.

It doesn’t, however, take out Sergrang Rath. Or Ightus himself. A very pissed off and not dead Sergrang captures his bumbling would-be assassin and leaves the Pie Market in smoking ruins with gang members already trying to fill the vacuum of power left by the very dead Bob.

Enter the Magetech troupe.

Want to find out what happens? Watch the video for live (well, it was) gameplay footage from the Magetech RPG. See Crea light more things on fire. See Ethendril CATCH on fire. See Gale talk to Boz via Magic 8 Ball and Xander bluff his way around town. See Yuri save the day (or the moment) with her knowledge of mechanical beasties. See Spade invoke his granddad’s name to get the crew out of a sticky situation (which will almost certainly backfire on him later).

Basically, see what happens when Ightus Tate can’t assassinate the person he was aiming for and instead becomes…the accidental terrorist.
